The pontus is at work with the ddc Iris now in i2s.I think it needs some break-in to get the maximum performance. The new dsp board on Pontus has greatly improved the excellent performance that the dac had. I could say in one word naturalness, coherence, excellent realism were noticed from the first moment.
The ddc Iris in my system has greatly improved the sound image in particular the depth and placement of the instruments are amazing ... but I think there is room for improvement.
I have tried to listen to several live sound recordings.
The Aeolian Organ at Duke University Chapel Jean SIBELIUS op.26 engraving Pentatone. The concert organ takes on such a real demand that it seems to be in a church. The extreme bass is simply fantastic.
I listened to The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett again. A unique emotion. Realistic percussive piano harmonic as you listen to it live.
Tin Pan Alley (aka Roughest Place In Town) Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble track with incredible dynamics ... you can turn up the volume in this superb track by Stevie without ever having any hint of distortion compression ... fantastic.
