Ordering a piece of equipment from Singapore for delivery in Canada during both a pandemic and the Christmas rush is a bit crazy but it was well worth the wait! My present arrived just before Christmas and I have been enjoying my time with it since.
The Denafrips Pontus dac has been in my system for a few weeks and I am very satisfied. It replaces another R2R dac that I greatly enjoyed but I wanted to try something different.
I have two kits at home. One in the living room and the other one in my den where I do more critical listening. That is where the Pontus joined my Leben cs300xs integrated amplifier, Buron Soloist headphone amp, Oppo bdp-103 disk player (coax out) and Bluesound Node 2i streamer (toslink out) on the digital side with Harbeth m30.2 speakers.

On the analog end I have a Sota Saphire TT with Hana SL cartridge feeding a Tavish design Adagio phono-preamplifier all cabling is Telerium Q Black.
I was happily surprised by what I heard. I was obviously hoping for something special given all the hype in the specialized press about Denafrips but this is more than expected. I installed the dac on Nordost AC Sort Kones. I won’t make a fool of myself trying to write in audiophile jargon, I will leave that to the specialists, I will only say that buying this dac is money well spent when compared to the competition. I doubt you will be disappointed.
