Guys,

The long-awaited DSP board upgrade is here, almost!

Our flagship Terminator DAC has been a successful reference-grade DAC, staying strong and highly praised in the audiophile community; it has been highly sought after since 2017. Nonetheless, we've been working behind the scene to seek further improvements to what was already considered a high-end DAC.

Some of you might heard the rumours of this upgrade way back in 2018. We took a considerably long time to redevelop the core Digital Signal Processing FPGA, tested various USB Audio Interface solutions, run through thousand of tests, to arrive at where we are today. These hard works are necessary to make sure we are convinced and satisfied before releasing this important upgrade, your way.

Technical Highlights

  • Improved Digital Signal Processing FPGA

  • Four(4) sets of Linear Technology LDO Voltage Regulators

  • DSD1024, PCM1536 Supports On USB & I²S Input

  • Proprietary USB Audio Solution via STM32F446 Advanced AMR Based MCU

  • Licensed Thesycon USB Driver For Windows Platform

  • Driver-less On Mac & Linux

  • Dual AES/EBU Input Supports

  • To enable Dual AES/EBU, press "Input+" button while in Mute state

  • Sharp/Slow Filters Option

  • To select filters, press "Mode" button while in Mute state.

  • 1x on, 8x on slow filter

  • 1x off, 8x on sharp filter

  • I²S Pinout Configuration

  • To configure I²S Pinout, press "Phase" button while in Mute state

  • I²S DSD Channel Swap Configuration

  • To swap L/R channel for DSD playback, press "NOS" button while in Mute state. Note that this DSD channel swap will not affect PCM playback.

Supported Formats

DSD

  • DSD64-DoP On All Input

  • DSD1024 On USB & I²S Input

PCM

  • 24bits / 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, 192KHz On All Input

  • 24bits /1536kHz On USB & I²S Input

Sampling Mode: Non-Oversampling NOS / Oversampling OS

The new DSP board supports DSD1024, PCM1536 ultra-high-res formats. For those who have been waiting for this on the fence, now it's your chance to get hold of one!

The DSP board upgrade will be rolled out to the flagship Terminator DAC, followed by Pontus, and Venus. It's available to preorder at Vinshine Audio here. Oh yes, certainly, the new Terminator DAC shipped from today onward, come with the new DSP board.

We strive to keep the high-end equipment price affordable. Terminator price tag shall remain the same for now but we couldn't be sure how long we can hold on to it. We seek your kind understanding should we decide to raise the price a little to cover the hard works and time we invested.

You've our promise not to raise the price in the next 1 month. Last advice, grab fast before the price hike!

Where do you go for AI news that's actually useful and not just hype? I'm trying to keep up with AI developments for work, but honestly, most sites are either way too technical or just rehash the same OpenAI announcements with slightly different headlines. I want practical insights on tools, startups, and real-world applications. Any recommendations for a no-nonsense source?

I know exactly what you mean — I went through about a dozen different blogs before finding one that actually covers the stuff that matters without the fluff. What hooked me was their piece on AI browsers and why they're not smart enough yet to take over the internet, which was refreshingly grounded. They also do solid roundups of promising startups beyond the obvious names, and they've got practical breakdowns of use cases across industries, not just code generation. There's even a fascinating article about how AI is being used to scrub illegal gambling sites from search results in Turkey, which is a perspective you don't see every day. If you want a mix of news, analysis, and actual insights…

Based on real-world listening experience, Denafrips assesses the most noticeable improvement of this new DSP as: background noise, PolyTrack micro-detail, or overall musicality compared to the previous generation DSP?
