The Pontus II sold me on build quality over the Ares II.
I likely would have been very satisfied with the performance of the Ares II and went with the Pontus instead.
It fits in nicely next to my Nova on the lower shelf of my bar cart.
Its a remarkable design inside and out for its asking price and has delivered many hours of sonic enjoyment to my living room.
Its a bit of a gateway drug of sorts in that it has me at times thinking about upgrading other pieces of my gear.
I am sure Alvin could help me with a new amp stack and re-clocking gear but my bar cart would probably collapse.
