I have been listening to the Iris DDC plus Ares II on my laptop for a week or so and it is a real improvement over the Ares 11 used alone. Music has more life, drive and rhythm. Before the Iris, the Ares II with laptop sound was not so good as my Ares 11 with CD transport (Cambridge CVC S2). With Iris added to laptop, the sound quality is quite close to CD.
However the Iris does need some 'burning in' or running in. I left it playing all day for a week or so. The sound was not so good at first but it improved a lot over time. I would not be without it now.
