Is This the Ultimate R2R DAC Upgrade

Well folks, there we have it—Denafrips has conjured up one of the better-sounding DACs that I've spent time with. It sounds good enough to easily recommend this DAC without batting an eye. The DAC is built like a tank, it's reasonably priced, and best of all, it sounds

tunning.

This post raises a key question for audiophiles—whether upgrading to an R2R DAC is truly “ultimate” or just a different flavor of sound. It does a good job highlighting how R2R designs are often valued less for measurements and more for their musicality, with smoother mids, deeper soundstage, and a more natural presentation compared to typical delta-sigma DACs.

That said, it also subtly suggests that “upgrade” is system-dependent—what feels like a major improvement in one setup might be a side-grade in another, especially depending on synergy and listener preference.

If you’re sharing audio or hi-fi content like this, using a clean and refined color palette can really elevate the presentation—I’ve been using this AI color palette generator: duckcolor

Your piece held my attention from beginning to end. It took some time to go through all the comments, but I found the piece very fascinating. pips nyt
