The Venus II works quite well in my system---it was hooked up with the power amp (Parasound A21+) then the loudspeakers (usually Focal Electra 1008Be, or sometimes Monitor Audio GX200). I'm a PC music player and with USB connected the MacBook Air streaming Tidal and Roon. Occasionally use CD as the source. From the pictures attached you may get some ideas of the setup.
Before your DAC I used the DAC in the integrated amp (Cambridge Audio CXA80) which I also like. But Venus II seems presents more details. Generally, Venus II is a quite neutral.
