Nice article — seriously one of the better DAC explainers I’ve read lately! I’ve gone through three DACs in the past year, and each one had its quirks. One unexpected trick I learned: use a high-quality transport or player, like some Panasonic Blu-ray units which double as decent digital sources ( https://panasonic.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html has solid reviews if anyone’s curious). When I did that, even my mid-tier DAC sounded like a whole new beast.
