I bought Denafrips Ares II based on good reviews, without the possibility of trial listening. So I took a small risk here. My current Stax headphone-based hardware is the first better hardware for me to just listen to high quality music. I listen to all my music wirelessly through the Lindemann Limetree Bridge II streamer, which transfer digital signal and over sampled it to Ares II. My first impression was really great. Wide and clear stereo image, without distortion or anyt
Hi Alvin I finally got my Pontus set up this weekend. It’s an amazing DAC! I used integrated amps for years before moving to separates. I tried several different DACs – Schiit Gungnir multibit, Gustard X20 Pro, Topping D90 MQA – before getting the Pontus. I’ve found my end game DAC. I use it with a Crown XTi 2002 power amp. My speakers are the KEF LS50 Meta and SVS Micro 3000 subwoofer. I work at home, so am at my computer 10-12 hours every day. When I’m not working, I play g
I have to say, I am very impressed at the improvement it brought. I was previously running my Roon Nucleus Plus into my Chord Qutest DAC via USB. Now, Roon Nucleus into IRIS DDC and then into my Qutest. Power: Topaz 31 series Ultra Isolation Transformer 2.5kVa -> Furman Elite 20 PFi power conditioner -> Shanti LPS for Chord Qutest DAC and R-Core LPS for Roon Nucleus+ Signal: Roon Nucleus+ (Local SSD and Qobuz) -> USB Supra Cable into -> Denafrips IRIS DDC -> Wireworld Platinu
Dear Vinshine, My Denafrips Ares II is working flawlessly, it gets its signal from a raspberry pi 4 over USB with volumio taking its files off my NAS. The DAC is instantly recognized by Volumio and will play anything from MP3 to DSD without breaking a sweat. Sound quality is discussed all over the web and youtube; I don't think there is much to add there. All I can say is that they are all right; wonderful analogue sound, good imaging, and in general just a very musical DAC.
Hello Alvin, While I appreciate your request for photos and impressions, I'm afraid I don't have the years of experience to necessarily recommend one component over another. This is actually my first external DAC and independent transport. But I can say that I am extremely happy with the products and have heard detail in music that I usually only hear with my vinyl playback. I certainly can endorse the quality of both Denafrips and Jay's Audio gear, and I can say that the cu
My consideration for Venus 2 may be interesting for you to know. My current system (old school) has been me for 15 yrs already, almost fully customised. The sound is very musical, analog and able to present the high frequencies well with both subtle and hard bass. The speakers sound quite familiar to Wilson Sophia 2. I wouldn't imagine if it could be improved very much more without spending $100k. Your R2R platform DAC surprises me. With the Ares, the sound quality actually

The Ares II has “changed my life”. Its like having a Stradivarius playing in my home, a Monet hanging on the wall (a Ferrari in the garage!). I matched it with a Schiit Freya + tube preamp and a powerful ss amp with my Klipsch Chorus speakers. Superb! Sublime! The best sound I have experienced in my modest home, and perhaps all I need in terms of being sufficiently audiophile! Thank you! Yes the Ares is phenomenal, as I say a little bit life-changing. It’s like experiencing c
